Christopher Michael Mattson

Christopher Michael Mattson, age 50, returned to his Heavenly Father, Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Mesquite, Nevada with his loving wife at his side.  He was born April 10, 1971 in Lafayette, Indiana to William M. and Judith Marie Mosak Mattson.  On March 10, 2003 he married Misty Lee Hopkins in St. George, Utah.

Chris lived most of his life in the Houston, Texas area.  In 2002 he moved to St. George, Utah where he joined his family as a cook at The Wagon Wheel Diner, which is family owned and operated.  Chris enjoyed spending time in the dining area laughing and joking around with the regulars, he always enjoyed meeting new people.  He recently relocated in Mesquite, Nevada.  Chris was a sports fanatic, he enjoyed the statistics, watching the games and following teams and players.  He was a huge fan of all Houston teams’s.  He took his daughters to live football and baseball games, always making important memories.  He had a great memory for stats and could use them in talking sports with friends.

Chris’ greatest love was his girls and especially his one year old grandson, Abel.  He loved time with each one, encouraging and supporting them in all of their activities.  He had big plans for Abel as soon as he found out he was having a grandson.  Abel was going to be grandpa’s little All Star.  He spent his last days helping tend to him always teaching him new things, they both loved playing ball and going for walks together.  Abel was Grandpa’s best buddy.

Survivors include his wife, Misty; three daughters: Ashlee (Kelby) David and their son, Abel of St. George, UT; Kaylee and Jaymee both of Mesquite; sister, Joy (Dale) Chavez of St. George, UT; sister, Billie Jo Mattson of Yellowstone, WY;  sister, Lynn (Peter) Williams of England and sister, Amy Stymiest of Houston, TX.  He was preceded in by one brother, James “Bo” Mattson, niece Brandi Mattson and mother, Judith Marie Rossiter.
