Carl Van Massegee, 75, passed away at his home in Beaver Dam, AZ on January 17, 2016. Carl was born June 3, 1940 to Percy Van and Nonnie Mae (McCloskey) Massegee in Borger, Texas. He married Sheila Cashman Massegee on April 28, 1979 in Albuquerque, NM.
One of Carl’s greatest joys in life was playing Bluegrass Music. He enjoyed listening to it, and was very talented in playing the Bass, Guitar, and the Dobro. He was a member of the Southern Nevada Bluegrass group for 35 years. As a young man, Carl was very proud to have served in the Marine Corps. Carl owned the American Machine Shop in Las Vegas, NV for 20 years. Carl was a loving husband and dedicated father and he enjoyed taking his kids boating with him often.
Carl is survived by his wife, Sheila C. Massegee of Beaver Dam, AZ, his son; Mark Massegee of Las Vegas, NV, and his two stepsons; Phil Richter of Las Vegas, NV, and Jason Richter of Las Vegas, NV, his three grandchildren; Jacob Richter, Mickey Richter, and Ashley Richter, his brother, Dennis (Anne) Massegee; and his two sisters; Carolynn (Andy) Anderson, and Gwen (Lyn) Hughes.
Funeral services will be held in the Palm Mortuary Chapel at 7600 S. Eastern, Las Vegas, NV on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 with a viewing at 11:00 a.m. and services at 12:00 noon. The Internment will be at the Palm Cemetery in Las Vegas, NV.
