Candace Jensen Brown

May 18, 1950 — February 5, 2011

Candace Jensen Brown Candace Jensen Brown, 60, left this earthly life on February 5, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving husband at her side. She was born on May 18, 1950 in St George, UT to Omer K. Jensen and Zona Russell Jensen. She had a wonderful childhood with her three siblings, Courtney, Eric, and Alex working on the family farm. Candace married Ed Shaner, and together they had a daughter, Cheri Jean. They divorced and Candace married Gary Brown, who has been her constant companion for 31 years. Candace was blessed with a wonderful extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she has had a close relationship with her entire life. Friends have also been an important part of Candace's life. Her close circle of friends began in grade school, and they have continued to be an important part of her life. Candace attended Virgin Valley High School and was a proud graduate of the class of 1968. Candace was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She gave much of herself in service during her lifetime, including several years as the pianist for the primary as well as the chorister for the relief society organization. Candace was an amazing pianist. She loved to teach and share her beautiful musical talent with her daughter and everyone around her. Our days of standing around the piano at Thanksgiving and Christmas are truly going to be missed. She was a wonderful homemaker, loved her home in Twin Falls, and beautiful yard and garden. She was always a farm girl at heart. She also loved to read. She had a knack for crochet, and enjoyed creating beautiful Afghans and quilts for family and friends alike. She was a wonderful cook and delighted in having family and friends enjoy her latest batch of canning. My mom was the most important influence in my life and an inspiration to all around her. She always had a kind word and smile for everyone she met. You don't make friends, you recognize them. She was full of wit and wisdom as well as a little vinegar and will be truly missed. The world will be a sadder place without her here... She is survived by her husband Gary G Brown of Twin Falls, ID; daughter Cheri J Hunt of Payson, UT; stepchildren Judie(Anthony)Callan of Anaheim, CA, and Bradley(Jeanette)Brown of Norwalk, CA. She is also survived by her mother Zona R Jensen of Mesquite, NV; brothers Courtney(Jolene)Jensen of Hidden Valley Ranch, AZ, Eric(Paula)Jensen of Mesquite, NV, and Alex(Jami)Jensen of Layton, UT; three granddaughters Baeli and Caide Hunt, and Kimberly Callan, as well as a grandson James E Burnham III, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11AM at the Virgin Valley Mortuary. A visitation will be held at 10AM prior to the service with interment to follow the service at the Mesquite City Cemetery.
