Calvin Jay Mccombs

October 15, 1937 — March 18, 2014

Calvin Jay McCombs, 76, Mesquite, NV, passed away at his home on March 18, 2014. He was born October 15, 1937 in Mason City, WA to Alma A. and Glena Priscilla Campbell McCombs. Calvin graduated from Marcus High School in Marcus, WA. He married Inez Leverne Thompson in Griffin, GA on April 24, 1959 and they were happily married for 55 years.

Calvin spent two years in the US Army and then went to work for Eastern Airlines. He really enjoyed working at the airlines and never complained about his job. After retiring from Eastern, he worked for the next five years at Expediters International. He and Inez moved to Mesquite a year and a half ago. Calvin really enjoyed serving others and was willing to help anyone with repairs, mowing the lawn, or anything else that needed to be done as long as his health would allow. He loved to work on cars, old trucks, and tractors.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held several callings including Sunday School President, Building Representative and often cleaned the Spokane Temple. His family was the most important thing to him and he loved his grandkids very much.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 55 years Inez, son Randy Lee(Lori) McCombs of Mesquite, NV, daughters Susan McCombs Potter of Mesquite, NV and Brenda(Scott) Marley of Edmonds, WA. Grandchildren Jayson Marley and Ashley and Jerimiah McCombs, sister Glena Hoffman, and brothers Richard, Andy, and Roger McCombs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Jay Edward, and siblings Alma, Sylvia, Dee, Audrey, Bill, Betha, Pete, and Doug.

Funeral services were held at East Valley Stake Center in Otis Orchards, WA. Calvin was laid to rest beside his son Jay at Mt. View Cemetery in Auburn, WA.
