Bud Sprague

Arnold Oliver "Bud" Sprague, age 73, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in St. George, Utah. He was born September 2, 1937 in Overton, Nevada to Oliver Dee and Percilla Emaline Stevens Sprague. On February 4, 1956 he married Betty Yvonne Woolsey in Hurricane, Utah. In 1964, they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. Bud lived most of his life in Moapa Valley, graduating from Moapa Valley Highs School where he excelled in Football, Basketball and Track. He worked as a meat cutter in the grocery business, but was better known for his medicinal skills. People in the valley relied on him for his chiropractor, orthopaedic and emergency treatment abilities. He volunteered for many years as the team physical trainer for all the Pirate sporting events. Bud was an active member of the LDS church, serving in the bishopric, as a Stake Missionary and in Scouting for many years. He served on the Paiute Indian Tribal Council. He moved to St. George, Utah in 1989. He will be remembered for his wisdom, his kindness and for his healing hands. Survivors include his wife, Betty of St. George, UT; four sons and three daughters: Richard of St. George, UT; Kathryn of WI; Terry (Ron) Cameron; Phil (Shauna); Jeffery (Betsy) all of Logandale, NV; James (April) of NC; Paula (Lon) White of Logandale, NV; 28 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Jessie Fields of Panaca, NV; Merlin (Connie) of Las Vegas, NV and Johnny (Rosa) of CA. He was preceded in death by one son, David and one brother, Rulon. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 6 -8 p.m. (Utah Time)at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah and again from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the Chapel. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702 398-3600.
