Bruce Torbeck, 70, passed away Wednesday, April 10th, at Highland Manor in Mesquite, NV, after a brief bout with cancer. Bruce was born December 15th 1942 in Quincy, IL to Fred and Frances Torbeck.
Bruce was happiest spending time with his wife, Terry. Retired, they traveled in their RV exploring the Rocky Mountains and Quartzsite, AZ during rock and gem events. He was a real fan of the mountains and desert, often "jeeping" around them, or sitting with a beer in hand, listening to music, looking at the view from their home.
Bruce graduated from Western Illinois University and worked in aerospace engineering at Boeing and Martin Marietta in Seattle and Denver, respectively. Bruce was a devoted father, introducing his children, Tiffany (of San Diego) and Bret (of Seattle) to western horseback riding, skiing, hiking, and an overall appreciation of nature. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and twin brother Richard (of Louisville, KY).
He leaves behind his loving wife Terry, daughter Tiffany, son Bret, step-son Shawn Martin (of Castle Rock, CO), sister Marilyn Huechteman (of Plano, TX), brother John (of Liberty, IL), grandsons Jean-Paul and Jakes (of San Diego, CA) and Tyler (of Denver, CO), and great-grandson Landon (of Denver, CO).
A ceremony and toast in Bruce's honor will be held at the Mesquite City Cemetery in Mesquite, NV on Monday, May 6 at 1:00pm. Friends of Bruce are welcome to share stories at this event.
