Brian Gerald Jackson, age 41, entered into peace on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brian was affectionately called BoJack by his friends and family. He was born January 10, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Gerald and Raphella Lenore Benn Jackson.
Brian grew up on the Moapa Indian Reservation and was a tribal member. He graduated from Moapa Valley High School in 1987. He attended Haskell Nation University, he received his Associates Degree and there he met his wife Mavis.
Brian married Mavis Siverly on August 5, 1989. The summer of 1992 they had one daughter, Miranda. Mavis passed away September 25, 1992 and Brian never remarried. He worked as a welder and as a chef at different resorts.
Brian loved to read and collect Conan magazines. He loved football and played tackle on the Pirate football team. He helped coach the Bison Youth Football team and one year in the Mesquite youth football league. He loved to play chess and Indian ten cards and the Indian hand game and he entered tournaments with his family. He loved this game and also sang the Paiute Indian hand game songs. He cared for people and had many friends. He kept in touch with some of the youth regarding football. He was proud of the boys.
Survivors include his mother, Raphella Spute, daughter, Miranda; brother, Nick; maternal grandmother, Irene Benn; aunt, Karen Benn and three uncles, Virgil Benn, Tommy Jackson, Sr., Paul Jackson, Jr., one niece, one nephew and many cousins. He was preceded by his wife Mavis, father, Gerald, grandparents, Harry Benn and Nina and Paul Jackson, Sr.
Services will be held at the Moapa Indian Reservation in the Tribal Hall at 3:00 p.m. on Monday March 1, 2010. Following the services, a dinner will be served and a traditional Indian Sing will go from dusk until dawn. Interment will be the next morning in the Moapa Indian Cemetery.
