Bonnie Rae Anderson

March 16, 1930 — July 15, 2009

Bonnie Rae Ward Anderson passed away July 15, 2009 at 79. After struggling with diabetes and heart issues, she joined her beloved Lorin, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2008. Bonnie was born March 19, 1930 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the youngest child of Amelia Randall and Lorenzo Jones Ward.

A lifelong member of the LDS Church, Bonnie grew up with two brothers on a potato farm in Coltman, Idaho. After attending Utah State University and serving in the Western States Mission, she married Lorin D. Anderson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on January 16, 1953. Together with Lorin she raised a family of six; two boys and four girls. They started their family in Seattle, Washington, moving to Centerville, Utah and then to the U.S. Territory of Saipan, where Lorin worked for the Bureau of Reclamation. After two years abroad they then settled in Denver, Colorado. Bonnie will be remembered first and foremost as a beloved and valiant mother, who often sacrificed her own interests for the benefit of her family. She was also known for her great love of music. She had a beautiful voice, and led the church choir in her ward for 16 years, and served as chorister in her current ward.

Bonnie retired in 1996 as an accountant for the Federal Government and went on to serve a mission in the Toronto Canada LDS Temple with Lorin. They then joined their daughter Lisa in Las Vegas, where they have resided for 12 years.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Lorin D. Anderson, and a brother, Max Ward. She is survived by brother Wayne Ward, children Deborah (Dave) Meyer, Thayne (Karen) Anderson, Jaclyn (Dan) Frey, Carla (Tom) Hartmann, Eric (Ronda) Anderson, Lisa (Jeff) Moore, 34 grandchildren and 28 great-children.

The family would like to offer their thanks to the friends, doctors and nurses who have taken care of our parents for many years.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Elkhorn Springs Stake Center, 7500 Tule Springs Road, Las Vegas, Nevada.
