Betty Frances Walters

Betty Frances Walters, age 77, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at her home in Logandale, Nevada. She was born May 1, 1932 in Hopkinsville, Illinois to Wilkie and Maud Cary Collins. On April 2, 1955 she married Robert Eugene Walters in Cincinnati, Ohio. On November 24, 1998 they were sealed in the LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2001.

Betty grew up in Illinois. She served in the US Marine Corps and later in the Air National Guard. She met Robert while serving. After she retired from the military, she lived in San Diego where she worked as a police officer and later as a school teacher. In the late 90's they moved to Logandale where she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Red Hat Ladies.

She had many hobbies and interests. She was an artist and enjoyed designing china dolls and their outfits, painting ceramic work and other crafts. She loved all kinds of music. She received her pilot's license and loved to fly and travel. She enjoyed pageantry, sport shooting, working with horses and caring for her beloved German Shepherd, Victor and Siamese cat, Rambo.

Survivors include her niece, Carol and her husband Keith Collins-Clapp of Midland, NC and many extended family members from Kentucky. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Col. Talbott F. Collins and Wilkie Alan Collins.

Memorial services will be held Monday, March 29, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
