Betsy Jean Jensen

May 20, 1934 — August 6, 2010

Betsy Jean Jensen died peacefully in her home in Overton, Nevada, in the early morning hours of August 6th, 2010.

Betsy was born in Lorraine, Ohio to Marie Kunzle Beyer and Henry Beyer on May 20 1934. She grew up in Lorraine, Ohio where she graduated from high school and had an interest in education and nursing. Soon after high school graduation she met and married Richard Thomas DeLaFrance and had one son Thomas Richard DeLaFrance, who preceded her in death in 2002. Betsy and Dick (Richard) later moved to California to enjoy the weather, fishing, and to escape the cold harsh winters of Ohio. She began her career as a seamstress for Olga, making ladies undergarments. Later she took a position as a sewer for a new company called Covercraft which, with her help, became the largest company of its type in the world. She worked for Covercraft helping to set up various new plants in Mexico, Texas, Boston and finally relocated to start the plant in Oklahoma where she worked until her retirement in 1998. She loved her work and the people that she worked with.

After retirement she moved to Overton Nevada to be close to her son and his family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was very involved in the grand children's lives. She attended sports, music, school, and church functions for all of 5 of them. She always had a smile and a warm hug and great food for her family and friends and welcomed them into home anytime.

While living in the San Fernando Valley, Dick (Richard) DeLaFrance passed away and later she married Charles Duane Jensen. Betsy had a great love for the ocean which she shared with both of her husbands and spent most weekends on their boat or camping near the ocean. She was very driven and became interested in many different hobbies. One hobby that she enjoyed and shared with so many was gardening. She had a green thumb and was able to produce beautiful gardens of flowers, shrubs, trees, and vegetables. She also took classes on cake decorating, cooking, and doll marking. She became an excellent cake decorator and cook, but her greatest love was her porcelain dolls. She has made close to 400. Many of her dolls have won ribbons from various Los Angeles County Fairs. She was generous with her dolls and gave many to friends and family. Betsy was very close the Lord and found comfort in serving others. She was confirmed a member of the Mesquite Lutheran Church where she and Chuck (Charles) attended for the past several years.

Betsy is survived by her husband Charles D. Jensen, her sisters Gertrude Holly, and Rosemary Berens, Daughter-in-law Carolyn DeLaFrance, Grandchildren, Andrew Thomas, Mathew Richard, Nicholas Jason, Joshua Charles, and Janell Sarah DeLaFrance. She is preceded in death by Richard Thomas DeLaFrance, husband, Thomas Richard DeLaFrance, son, Marie and Henry Beyer, parents, Arthur Beyer, brother, Emily Dearing, sister, and Edward Beyer, brother. Betsy will be remembered and loved by so many throughout the country.
