Berta Lea Dye
July 15, 1917 — January 17, 2010
Berta Lea Dye, age 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Highland Manor, Mesquite, Nevada. She was born July 15, 1917 in Centerville, Iowa to Raymond Thomas Benton and Grace May Hatfield Sherer. On July 26, 1940 she married William Samuel Dye, Jr. in Centerville, Iowa. They had one son and were later divorced.
Berta grew up in Centerville until as a teenager her family moved to Carrolton, Missouri. She entered college to learn business skills, only to leave school to support her new husband as he was finishing medical school. After their divorce, she moved to Deming, New Mexico where she raised her son working as a legal secretary. She devoted her life to her son and was extremely proud of his accomplishments becoming a doctor and raising a beautiful family.
Survivors include her son, Samuel Douglas (Suzanne) currently serving an LDS Mission in Germany; three grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Logandale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at Moapa Valley Mortuary.
