Berl Dee Mays

Berl Dee Mays, age 77, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at his home in Logandale, Nevada. He was born July 8, 1936 in Butler, Missouri to John and Eva Barker Mays. On July 26, 1966 he married Helen Marie Metcalf in Elko, Nevada.

Berl moved to Idaho as a baby with his family. He was part of the class of 1953. He served his country for 9 years in the National Guard. He owned and operated the Thousand Springs Trading Post, a general store, in Wilkens, NV. He worked as a mechanic for Silver State Disposal . They moved to Overton, in 1980 where he managed the Wayne Newton Ranch and farmed his own small spread. After he retired he enjoyed traveling with Helen and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Overton; one daughter and two sons, Tamara (John) Helms of Twin Falls, ID; Mark (Dreme) Roberts of Overton, NV, John (Lisa) Mays of Pahrump, NV; 6 grandchildren: Tellina (Jimmy) Wild of Spring Creek, NV; Lindey Mays of Moses Lake, WA; Jeremy (Amy) Roberts of Overton, NV; Cary Roberts of Layton, UT; Shane Helms of Twin Falls, ID; Dawn (Joshua) Wright of Rock Springs, WY; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters; La Von Low of Boise, ID, Wanda Ohlinger of Gooding, ID; one sister in law, Patty (Buddy) Sampson of Ely, NV; one brother in law, Bernie (Amy) Metcalf of Sunnyside, NV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary, Logandale, Nevada. Interment will be Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Ely City Cemetery in Ely, Nevada.
