Bennie Davis

Bennie Davis, age 92, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born November 19, 1915 in Syracuse, New York to Isadore and Sarah Galinsky Davis. On July 3, 1934 he married Sylvia Kessel in Syracuse, New York.

Bennie grew up in Syracuse. He served his country in the US Navy, then settled in Syracuse to raise his two daughters, working as a salesman in the siding and roofing industry. In the early 1980's he retired to Overton, Nevada. They then moved to Florida for several years before coming back to Las Vegas for the last five years. As a young man, he played professional football for the Syracuse/ Rochester Braves, his love for sports stayed with him throughout his life, he was an avid golfer. Bennie loved life, he loved to tease and he always had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Sylvia; two daughters: Marlene (Robert) O'Neil of Las Vegas, NV; Bonnie (Howard) Garelick of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one brother, Larry (Shirley) Davis of Florida. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 9 a.m. at the Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702 398-3600.
