Arnold Segmiller, age 75, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born July 12, 1936 in Las Vegas to Ben and Daisy Sackett Segmiller. Arnold lived at the Las Vegas Reservation as a child and then moved to Moapa in the 1970's. He was a proud member of the Moapa Band of Paiutes. He worked at the Moapa Travel Plaza as Security, as a water truck driver and at the farm on the Reservation. Every morning he would shower, feed the dogs, then go on his morning cruise to get his coffee and newspaper. He loved riding horses as a young boy, and telling his grandchildren his stories of growing up. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Karen Brown; daughter, Surita (Jorge) Hernandez; their five children; Aaliyah, Zayda, Ayona, Gyiel, and Ayashe all of Moapa, NV; his brother, Claude Segmiller and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Moapa Tribal Building. A Traditional Indian Sing will follow. Interment will be in the Moapa Indian Cemetery Sunday morning at dawn.
