Arlene F. Waite

September 18, 1936 — May 9, 2020

Arlene Foutz Waite, 83, passed away on May 9, 2020 in Logandale, NV. Arlene was born on September 18, 1936 in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to John William Foutz and Genevieve Hatch. Her father passed away before her fist birthday and she always longed to know him. She graduated from the high school in Chandler, AZ, and attend BYU for a year. She then moved to El Paso, TX to live with her aunt and attend hairdressing school, and that is where she met Darrell. She just finished singing in the choir, when Darrell’s friend introduced the two. They had a short courtship, but delayed their marriage since Darrell was shipped to Maryland for training. She married Darrell Myron Waite in the Mesa, AZ Temple on October 4, 1958. They then moved all around the world as Darrell served in the military. Arlene raised their small children by herself for many years as he was deployed to Korea and Vietnam. She worked hard to ensure that her children knew that they were loved and helped them develop their faith. She was a talented seamstress, sewing her children’s clothing, and always had a wonderful dinner prepared with dessert.

As Arlene and Darrell left the military life, they settled into Moapa Valley, NV. Over the years, Arlene spent much of her time working on many different hobbies, and spending time at the cabin in Kanarra mountains, beautifying the area. She was diligent in her various church callings. She made sure her family had Family Home Evening and Scripture study. She served two missions with Darrell, one at the Liberty Jail in Missouri and one at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii. They spent a year in China teaching English and touring the country. She was the best mom, and supported her kids in everything they did. She would always have a cute gift prepared for her many grandchildren as they came to visit.

Arlene is survived by her children, Cynthia (James) Hardy of Logandale, NV, JoRene (Lindsey) Dalley of Logandale, NV, William (Theresa) Waite of Spanish Fork, UT, Angela Wallace of Henderson, NV, Andrea Eshenbaugh of Henderson, NV, and Cara (Sean) Nelson of Germany; her twenty-six grandchildren; nineteen and a half great-grandchildren, her brother, Thomas Hatch Whetten; her sister, Kathleen Whetten, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Waite; her granddaughter, Heather Wallace; her father, mother, and stepfather, and her brothers, Henry Alden Whetten Jr., Lloyed Albert Whetten, and William Hatch Whetten.
