Anna Scow Bowler

Anna Scow Hardy Bowler, age 89, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at her home in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born July 29, 1923 to Alfred Mathenus and Annie Bradshaw Scow in Deseret Utah. On December 13, 1941 she married Elwood Warren Hardy in Bunkerville, Nevada, and one week later, on December 20, 1941 she was sealed to him in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death on April 18. 1986. On September 29, 1990 she married Joseph LeGrand "J.L." Bowler in Mesquite, Nevada. Anna spent her childhood and young adult life growing up in Hurricane, Utah. After falling in love and marring her eternal companion, they moved to Bunkerville to raise their family. She worked as a bus driver for 27 years for the Clark County School District. She later worked as a clerk at the only grocery store in Mesquite, the J.L. Bowler Department Store. Even though Anna was busy with work outside her home, she was a great homemaker, mother, and wife. She will always be remembered as being a wonderful, loving mother and will always be loved and admired by all of her children and family. Next to her family, she loved the great outdoors and was fascinated by the Native American culture. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and raising animals, especially dogs. Anna loved to dance whenever she had a chance, and she enjoyed going for early morning walks every day. Anna always had to be busy doing something, she loved to be active in the LDS church and always went out of her way to help the youth in the community. Survivors include one son and two daughters: Ronald (Venita) Hardy, Farmington, NM; Annette Threlkeld, Mesquite, NV; Katherene (Jack) Faught, Bunkerville, NV; step children: one sister, Elda Rae (Deloyd) Hammond, Las Vegas, NV; one brother, R.L. Scow, Henderson, NV. Step children: Joe (Dixie) Bowler; Ruth McCormick; Tanya Weir, Anne Plocher; and John (Shannon Bowler); and 85 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anna is the fifth child of nine. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Elwood Hardy and her second husband, J.L. Bowler; one daughter, Thenelda Myers, two grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Mesquite LDS Whipple Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Bunkerville Cemetery.
