Ann Rebecca Collins

December 11, 1976 — October 20, 2012

Ann Rebecca Collins, 35, passed away in the early hours of October 20, 2012 at her residence in Mesquite, Nevada after a long hard fought battle against breast cancer. Ann was born December 11, 1976 in Denver, Colorado to Tim and Mary Collins.

The second of two children, Ann lived most of her life in Denver, Colorado and Vancouver, Washington. Ann graduated from high school in Vancouver, WA and then went on to attend college at Washington State University. In 2006 Ann met her partner in life Bill Mitchell and moved from Denver to Mesquite, NV to begin the next journey in their lives. On May 4, 2009, Ann and Bill welcomed to everyone's lives the birth of their son Connor Byron Mitchell. Ann was an avid reader and volunteered as a tutor through the Sherman Bennett reading program at the local middle school. Ann also worked as a part time receptionist at Highland Manor where she made a lasting impression with the residents and her fellow employees. The residents loved it when Ann would visit and bring her son, Connor. Ann loved music with all her heart and played the cello and piano beautifully. Her son and partner were the light of her life, along with her trusted side kick Angel. Even in her final months of battle she could be seen out walking Angel and she enjoyed when able taking Angel to the desert and river to play. Ann loved people and was a friend to everyone she met. She had a gift for visiting with people, making them feel at ease and also making them open up and see the silly side of life.

Survivors include her loving partner Bill Mitchell; her son, Connor; her mother, Mary L. Collins of Kelso, WA; her father Tim and wife Sandra Collins of Denver, CO; her brother, Christopher Collins of Denver, CO and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends around the country. In passing, Ann has left a physical void in everyone's life she has touched, but we each have retained the memory of joy, love, happiness and courage that Ann gifted to her family and friends over the years.

Memorial services will be held at Valley Prebyterian Church in Mesquite, NV on November 3, 2012 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for the Ann Collins Memorial Fund set up through Bank of America. This Memorial Foundation will continue Ann's battle against breast cancer and provide early detection funding to women whom otherwise couldn't afford the test. Donations will be accepted at the church or they can be mailed to Bank of America 81 W Mesquite Blvd., Mesquite, NV 89027.
